The Prestigious 1999 Direct Marketing Association International ECHO Awards Competition Names hawthorne direct Finalist Award Winner with 5th Placement

Fairfield, IA - hawthorne direct, the direct response TV advertising agency, recently was named Finalist Award Winner (5th placement) in the prestigious 1999 Direct Marketing Association (DMA) International ECHO Awards Competition for the Time Life Music AM GOLD campaign. “Time Life Music AM GOLD” Campaign:

The fifteenth Time Life Music infomercial in a long line of hit shows, “AM Gold” is the first to combine male/female co-hosts to help viewers find their way through some of the hottest AM hits of the Seventies. Produced by hawthorne direct and Time Life, this 30 minute walk down memory lane is set in the hallways of a classic high school, complete with pep rally banners and yearbooks.

Combining sophisticated graphics, performance footage, lifestyle scenes and on-location host segments, the program takes us back to that time of our lives when worries and responsibilities were no bigger than Friday night dates and showcases Seventies’ superhits such as “Fooled Around and Fell In Love,” “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown,” “Afternoon Delight,” “Horse With No Name,” “Shake Your Booty,” “Dream Weaver,” and “I Can See Clearly Now.” Targeted toward men and women, ages 25 to 50, this infomercial hit a strong nostalgic cord in millions of television viewers.

The Direct Marketing Association International ECHO Award is the only complete international direct marketing award rewarding outstanding breakthrough creatives, brilliant marketing strategies and phenomenal results. ECHO Award recipients must pass a total of three rounds of judging.

The ECHO award gala event / ceremony will be held at the DMA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Toronto, Canada, October 24 (the entire conference begins October 23, 1999 and ends October 27, 1999). The winners may receive gold, silver or bronze ECHOs. The “Best of Show” will be presented with the Diamond ECHO. The USPS Gold Mailbox will be presented to the year’s most effective and innovative mail campaign. The Henry Hoke will also be awarded. Hosting the awards ceremony will be comedian, Paula Poundstone.

Winning ECHO campaigns will be displayed at the ECHO Gallery, found in the East West Foyer – South Building (Level 700) of the Toronto Convention Center, during the DMA Annual Conference.
